Soups

Long ago, it was common to have everyday a great and very familiar meal as our "Comida", most of the times it was at 2 p.m. I remember well those days. At the table were my Daddy and Mommy, my siblings and my Grandma, "Mi Tata Lucita". Sometimes we used to enjoy two soups, a main dish with frijolitos, of course, and our dessert.

After the Comida, my Daddy went to have a little siesta, before going back to work; my Mommy cleaned the kitchen, and the kinds listened to the stories my Grandma narrated to us in the "sobremesa" (after-dinner conversation). It was like reading a fairy tale.

She was born in Zacatecas, and she had many stories about her hometown and the Revolution. We really loved to listen to her, sometimes we asked her to tell us this or that story again, because she used to do it in such a special way. Sometimes when she had forgotten the name of someone, we reminded her, because we already knew the story by heart, but those moments were a pleasure for us.

Of course, as it always happens, things were getting bigger with the time, and the soldier's gun became a rifle; and the big watermelon became to be as high as the table border height. She is a nice lady, because she still lives in the memories of my family.

She used to prepare Sopa Seca de Fideos, the favorite one of my cousin Manuel. As I am writing this recipe, I remember her now. You will see along this Recipe Book some of her recipes as well, I hope you enjoy them.
